As many of you will know, we’ve been pressing for a meeting with the Home Office since the news about Silverlands broke.

We’ve just had notice from the Home Office for the date & time of the mtg with Beverley Hughes – 1pm-2.15pm at Runnymede BC Civic Offices. We believe that the Home Office regard this meeting as part of the review process.

We understand that Ms Hughes is prepared to meet 4 local representatives:

We understand that there will be 19 people at the mtg (plus Home Office reps). Others present include snr reps from Surrey CC, Police, Surrey Education, White Lodge, St Peters Hospital, PH MP, RBC CExec, ward cllrs, Probation svce.

If you have particular points or questions you would like raised, please contact us – preferably by email by 7pm Tuesday although we cannot assume we will have the chance to raise them at this point. We would stress that we do not regard this meeting as the sole mechanism for local consultation and will make this point clear at the meeting.

I’ve summarised the invitation below:

Invitation to a meeting on 31st October with Beverley Hughes MP, Minister for Community and Custodial Provision, about the possible use of the Silverlands site.

You will be aware that I have put on hold the possible relocation of the Wolvercote Clinic to the site at Silverlands, near Addlestone, in order that my officials can review all options and we can engage with the community about their concerns.

I want to hear directly from community representatives and I have, therefore, arranged a meeting for 1pm, Weds 31st October at Runnymede Borough Council. The meeting will conclude at 2.15pm

I intend to set out the current position regarding Wolvercote and Silverlands, including the timescales for the decision making process, and then listen to your concerns and take questions. The meeting will also be an opportunity to introduce Tony Raban who has been appointed project leader for the Wolvercote relocation.

I apologise for the short notice of the meeting but I wanted to take the earliest opportunity to meet local representatives. I very much hope that you can attend on Wednesday and I look forward to meeting you.

…confirm response with my office…

Yours sincerely

Beverley Hughes
