Hit Addlestone
A team from Addlestone have started campaigning each evening outside Woolworths from 5:30 pm. Their feedback is that many in the local community think it’s been stopped, how wrong they are. Turn out and help to support the cause, it will make a difference.
Home Office Meetings
A series of consultation meetings are being arranged with the council, schools in the immediate area, etc. Members of the Silverlands Action Campaign have also been invited though details have not yet been finalised. These meetings will provide an opportunity to ask specific searching questions of the Home Office that hopefully will begin to get to the bottom of how the decision was made and what were the criteria. Once we know these we can begin to challenge specific points.
Home Office – Dodgy Dealings ?
One of the key reasons put forward by the Home Office for relocating the Wolvercote clinic from Epsom to Runnymede is that they want to retain existing staff and Runnymede is within commuting distance of Epsom. The current Wolvercote Clinic is located within the Horton Hospital site (a former psychiatric hospital). There are two further hospital sites within the immediate area that remain open and have more than enough space to house the Clinic. Why are they not suitable?
Information coming from Epsom suggests that the sale of Horton Hospital to property developers was dependant on relocating the Clinic out of the Epsom area. If this is true then they are acknowledging that paedophiles should not be located in a residential area. If not Epsom then not Runnymede either.
Some Good News
