Does anyone know the location of Lowood (Low Wood or Low-Wood perhaps?) House? My Grandfather owned the property during the last War (Maj D E Dixon, Grenadier Guards) and my father was born there in 1943. I lived in Sunninghill for a year but was never able to locate it - can anyone help? Thanks

If my information is correct, some years ago the ladies of Windlesham made a quilt with oak leaves and acorn motifs. It was featured in a magazine at that time and I had the cutting. I should be grateful if one of its makers would send me a picture and the story behind the quilt. I am a quilter myself and thought the block was beautiful even from the tiny cutting I had.

Hi, i am trying to find out if anyone has researched men and women of Virginia Water that were killed in the Second World War? I am researching aircraft crashes in Shropshire and one of the pilots that was killed was F/Lt Roy Harold Phillips (138663), RAFVR, aged 23. He was the Son of Harold Alexander and Marie Ethel Phillips, of Virginia Water, Surrey; husband of Marjorie Eileen Phillips.

I am wondering if anyone can help with any further information on this pilot? Perhaps somebody has researched war time casualties? I would be very grateful for any help. Many thanks, Tom

I just looked up Chertsey to see where my family originated from. My great-grandfather was called Edward Louis Allder, b. 1815, and his profession was Draper/Hosier. He seems to have had a lot of family members also living in Chertsey. If anyone has information about the Allder family (no detail is too small!) please get in touch. Thanks and keeping my fingers crossed ... Pamela

What a crock of rubbish this web site is !

Webmaster comment: We tried contacting Alan Thompson for clarification on what aspect of the site he thought was rubbish but like most people who offer negative criticism his email address didn't exist!
